From June 23–30, I was part of the MidMountain Summer 2024 fellowship cohort.

I spent the week working on Completely Artistic Paintings to Tell Computers and Humans Apart — a set of oil paintings exploring what separates humanity from robots through themes like CAPTCHAs and digital ID. This work was an extension of earlier CAPTCHA research and painting exploration, as well as ongoing digital ID research.
The week ended with an open house and group show on June 30, where the fellows shared work with the community. Visitors joined for poetry, a water blessing, and a reception featuring new art from the cohort. My in-progress paintings hung alongside pieces from the other fellows, rounding out a week of experimentation, collaboration, and reflection in the Blue Ridge mountains.
